Seigneur Tout-Puissant,

Père, Fils et Saint Esprit,

nous Te louons,

nous Te bénissons,

nous T’adorons.

Accorde-nous, à l’imitation de la

Bienheureuse Marie Poussepin

d’être inébranlables dans la Foi,

fermes dans l’Espérance

et généreuses dans la Charité.

Fonde nos âmes

en une vivante communauté

d’amour et de sainteté,

afin qu’elles puissent chanter éternellement

le cantique de louange :

« A l’œuvre de l’intelligence croyante doit s’ajouter le témoignage de l’amour agissant, de la charité qui ne passera jamais et demeurera dans l’« empire éternel » annoncé par le prophète Daniel (Dn 7, 14). De cette charité active, Marie Poussepin fut saisie dès son enfance et elle eut à cœur de se mettre au service des plus démunis, dans le Tiers-Ordre dominicain de Dourdan, sa ville natale. Elle savait, en effet, reconnaître la vive présence du Seigneur de l’univers dans la personne des plus petits. Servir les pauvres, c’est vivre déjà la béatitude du Royaume. Marie Poussepin voulut faire de sa vie tout entière une offrande d’amour, comme le montre le texte des Constitutions qu’elle donna aux Sœurs de charité dominicaines de la Présentation de la Vierge, fondées par elle à Sainville. Avec ses compagnes, religieuses apostoliques, elle décidait de travailler « pour l’utilité de la paroisse, pour instruire la jeunesse et servir les pauvres malades ».

Le feu de l’amour que le Christ est venu allumer sur la terre serait voué à s’éteindre si les familles n’avaient à cœur de l’entretenir. En cette année qui leur est particulièrement consacrée, Marie Poussepin livre un message de joie et d’espérance : née dans une famille qui l’a portée et qu’elle a soutenue, elle est désormais proposée à notre vénération comme une de nos sœurs en humanité, une fille de Dieu humble et généreuse, capable de comprendre les problèmes que rencontre une famille et de montrer également dans quelle direction il faut en chercher la solution : dans l’amour qui jaillit du Cœur du Christ, Roi de l’univers. »

to their Foundress, Blessed Marie Poussepin

Lord Almighty,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

we praise you,

we bless you,

we adore you;

grant that by the imitation of

Blessed Marie Poussepin

we may be firm in faith,

unwavering in hope,

and generous in charity.

Establish our souls in a living community

of love and holiness,

so that henceforth we may sing eternally

a hymn of praise:

Marie Poussepin: a Woman and a Saint

Marie Poussepin said ‘’yes’’ to the Lord,

left the world and took the cross,

the cross of a disciple.

She meditated on the cross and its cost.

She started to weave her vision:

The vision which gave birth to

the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation

in order to alleviate poverty,

to take care of the sick poor,

lonely and abandoned.

She found them and led them to life.

She pondered over the vision again and again.

She lived her vision and gave it life,

she embraced the sufferings

which created in her endurance.

She continued to weave her vision

by giving life to many:

she trusted in Divine Providence

which created in her energy and enthusiasm

to carry on her mission.

Marie Poussepin lived her life

totally and radically

which was an inspiration for many

to follow the Lord, through her Charism.

Each event led her more and more close to God,

she praised Him always.

The Eucharist nourished her soul

and sacred scripture nourished her mind.

Her life itself was proclamation.

Constant prayer strengthened her to weave

the vision continuously:

the vision to begin a Dominican Community.

Her vision was to preach his Kingdom,

to live the Gospel value,

to promote justice,

to understand and touch the problems of the world,

to live his kingdom among the chosen generations,

by calling them out of darkness into the light of Christ

to be hope for the hopeless,

to be light for all those who live in darkness

to be a consolation for the lonely,

to be joy for all those who mourn,

to be a help for the helpless.

God graced in her the charism to be

the Foundress of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation.

For three centuries her vision bore fruit.

The Church acknowledged Marie Poussepin's holiness

in her ordinary life

and raised her to the altar.
